  • USC hitting the home stretch of spring football practices
    Apr 1 2026
In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, RJ Abeytia and intern India Otto are back in studio talking about the Trojans nearing the end of spring football 2026. The team was out on Howard Jones Field Tuesday and Wednesday morning for practices No. 12 and No. 13 respectively, and now there are only two workouts left coming up on Friday and Saturday mornings. The crew gives an update on the injury situation, with a few new names added to the list but still nothing serious with everyone expected to be able to participate in off-season workouts this summer. They also talk about some of the drills that were run during the open portions of practice this week, including a fun looking punt coverage drill where gunners tried to down the ball as close to the goal line as possible without letting the ball go into the end zone. Head coach Lincoln Riley spoke on Wednesday morning and they discuss what he said plus what stood out from the offensive players media scrums on Tuesday and the defensive players earlier this morning. They also discuss the new SP+ rankings that came out, with the Trojans coming in at No. 13 in the country and why there is optimism that USC could be ranked even higher with the improvements made on special teams. • Dedeaux Download: Previewing USC's series at No. 1 UCLA; Travis Jewett talks bunching quality ABs
    Mar 31 2026
The Dedeaux Download Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and podcast co-host Kasey Kazliner breaking down USC baseball's first non-winning week of the season after the Trojans suffered their first loss at Dedeaux Field in a top 20 matchup with Oregon State and then went across the country and came away with a conference road series win. They also talk with USC hitting coach Travis Jewett and preview a big opportunity for the Trojans as they travel to No. 1 UCLA after a midweek matchup with UC Santa Barbara. In the first half of the show, Jewett joins to discuss how the Trojans were able to bounce back from a poor showing in the midweek to put up 29 runs in a series win at Maryland and how the focus of the offense is on bunching together quality at bats to create two to three big innings per game. He also talks about the advice he gives to a hitter like Maddox Riske, who is putting the ball in play and often with hard contact but not seeing results, as well as his approach for proven veterans that fall into a funk and how a lineup is built. After a break, Shotgun and Kasey take a look at the Trojans' 2-2 week that included a poor start against Oregon State, a bounce back offensive performance to open the series at Maryland, a lackluster day of execution on Saturday and a dominant Sunday rubber match effort.. Shotgun and Kasey close out the show taking a look at where the Trojans' stand in the rankings and previewing a massive week for USC as it takes on UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday before a battle for city and Big Ten supremacy with an opportunity to make a huge statement against No. 1 UCLA. • Tunnel Vision: USC spring ball pushes through and recruiting gets red hot
    Mar 30 2026
On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham Shotgun Spratling and intern Makena Arteaga are back in studio talking about the Trojans finishing up spring practice week three and the wave of commitments from some of the top high school football players in Southern California, including a recent Oregon flip for an elite offensive tackle. USC finished up spring practice No. 11 on Saturday in the Coliseum, completing the third of four weeks of spring football workouts. The crew gives their thoughts on what they have seen and heard out on Howard Jones Field with head coach Lincoln Riley and new defensive coordinator Gary Patterson getting the troops ready for the highly anticipated 2026 football season. Practices were more concentrated this spring, running for five weeks instead of six (with one week off for spring break), and four workouts per week instead of three. March is a critical month for the future of Trojan football with Patterson's new defensive scheme being implemented and 31 true freshmen getting in the mix. On the recruiting front general manager Chad Bowden and the squad are catching fire, trying to follow up on the No. 1 ranked high school class for 2026 with another impressive haul in 2027. Since spring football started dozens of prospects have continually visited campus to check out practice and so far three new commitments have been announced. It started with San Diego Cathedral Catholic four-star athlete Honor Fa'alave-Johnson followed by Mater Dei four-star defensive back Danny Lang and Saturday's big flip from the Ducks in Servite four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder.
