What do you do when you're facing suffering?

In Gethsemane, Jesus fell to the ground. He told his friends his soul was feeling overwhelmed. He asked God for a way out.

That's not weak faith. That's honesty.

In this message from the 8 Days series, we look at Mark 14 and what Jesus shows us about prayer, suffering, and what it means to follow God through your hardest moments.

You don't have to start with surrender. But you have to get there.

There are some things about God that you can only learn in Gethsemane.

Most of us intend to serve humbly. We intend to love without conditions. And then the moment arrives, and we find out who we actually are.In John 13, with hours left before the cross, Jesus didn't give a speech. He picked up a towel and washed feet. Including the feet of the man he knew would betray him. Including the feet of the man he knew would deny him three times before sunrise.In this episode we're asking: what does the gap between your good intentions and your faithful obedience actually look like? And what would it mean this week to pick up the towel?

Have you ever lost your cool? Vented your frustration or anger?

This week we look at the story where Jesus demonstrates that sometimes love requires disruption, but righteous anger must flow from deep relationship with God and concern for those being harmed.

Everyone wants a hero. We build them up, hand them a script, and then feel let down when they go off course.

Jerusalem did the same thing to Jesus. The crowds cheered him into the city expecting a warrior. A political fix. Someone to overthrow Rome and put things right.

He rode in on a donkey.

This week we look at Mark 11:1-11 and ask a harder question: what if your disappointment with God says more about your expectations than his character? Jesus didn't fail the crowd. He refused to be who they invented.

The same thing is still happening today.

What if you rebuilt the wall… and still lost the city? This episode concludes the Nehemiah series by highlighting that the wall was never the main point; Nehemiah’s deeper passion was restoring God’s people to worship and obedience.
