  • #34 - Kurt Jenkins, Indie Filmmaking
    Jan 26 2025

Kurt Jenkins is an indie filmmaker that did what every filmmaker inspired by the indie boom of the 90's dreamed of.

He made a film where the story OF the film might just be as good as the story IN the film.

Richard Linklater, Robert Rodriguez, Kevin Smith, Quentin Tarantino and more blew our minds with their back alley entry into the film biz.

Their stories said: "Hey if we can do it, so can you".

I feel like Kurt Jenkins has the modern day version of that story to tell.

Enjoy listening to me pick his brain and dissect just what sort of magic took place in the lead up to him going incognito at his workplace and "stealing" a film.

We reccount a little about the film and our process before diving into Leanne's craft.

Creating some momentum before the new year with a podcast featuring an actor from Hollywood blockbusters to one man stage shows, Shane C. Rodrigo.

Shane worked with me on what's ended up being my biggest filmmaking endeavour earlier in the year. We abandon the interview format and get a bit raw with the ups and downs of filmmaking, enjoy.
