• The pointlessness in pursuing knowledge. (1:12-18)

• The vanity of mirth, sensual pleasure, riches, and pomp. (2:1-11)

Questions:

• What have you pursued that didn’t satisfy?

• How can ambition become a spiritual dead-end?

Application: Journal your current goals and surrender them to God’s will.

Week 1: Life Under the Sun

Text: Ecclesiastes 1:1–11 Theme: The Vanity of Life Summary: Solomon introduces the book by declaring that all is vanity. Life feels like a never-ending cycle without purpose unless viewed through God’s lens.

Analysis of Chapter

• Without God, all human actions are meaningless and empty. (1-3)

• Man’s toil and lack of satisfaction. (4-8)

• There is nothing new. (9-11)

• Why do you think Solomon uses the word “vanity” so often?

• What parts of your life feel repetitive or meaningless?
