My guest today is a stand-up comedian, writer and multi-media creator.

Over 13 years of doing comedy has made him a household name in New Zealand. He’s appeared on a ton of TV shows and comedy showcases including being a judge on The Masked Singer. In 2019 his show at the New Zealand international Comedy Festival was nominated for a Fred Award. To give you an idea of just how big of a deal that is, that award was won by comedy movie star Rhys Darby in 2012.

In 2022 my guest toured his new show all over New Zealand, Melbourne and The World Famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The very next year he was selected to appear at the New Faces International Showcase at Just For Laughs in Montreal. Soon after that he relocated to Toronto.

He’s worked with some of the biggest names in stand-up comedy today, including Demitri Martin, Nick Kroll, Ronny Cheing and more.

He’s written on four TV series, created one and acted in seven. And apart from his TV acting credits he also played the lead role in the Indian Ink Theatre Company’s production of KISS THE FISH which toured New Zealand and the U.S.

He’s amassed a massive social media following with over two hundred thousand followers on instagram, and Tik Tok combined.

On top of all this, he’s also a co-founder of Proudly Asian Theatre, a theatre company dedicated to showcasing Asian-New Zealand stories on stage.

    It's…JAMES ROQUE!

My guest today is a stand-up comedian and podcaster.

In 2014 he was crowned the Winner of Winnipeg’s Funniest Person with a Day Job.

The following year, he became a regional finalist for SiriusXM Canada’s Top Comic contest, hosted two sold-out shows for the Oddblock comedy festival (a show, by the way, that became a tradition at the festival in the years that followed).

That same year he also performed at the Pantages Playhouse Theatre and was named Winnipeg’s Favourite Local Comedian by The Uniter.

Today, he’s a regular host and headliner at Rumors Comedy Club in Winnipeg

He’s performed regularly at The Winnipeg Comedy Fest, even performing on the Fish Out of Water Gala with Ryan Belleville, Derek Edwards and Rebecca Kohler.

He’s headlined sold-out comedy showcases at the Park Theatre. He’s been seen and heard on CBC and Sirius XM.

He’s got a weekly podcast called, Prairie Dumpster.

And he was featured on the 2022 Just For Laughs Originals Album, entitled Zero Peripheral Vision. Also, on a very cool side note, the album was named after one of his jokes.

And if that wasn’t enough, last year he got a degree in philosophy.
