  • 2.2 Parshas Va'eira Review: Plagues, Miracles and Gratitude
    Jan 11 2026
Join us as we unpack the intricate lessons and enduring wisdom of Parsha Va'eira from the book of Exodus. In our latest Torah study, we examine the precision of the Torah's language and the vital message that not a single letter is superfluous. As we traverse the narratives of Moshe's mission, Pharaoh's hardened heart, and the miraculous plagues, we discover the profound connections between these ancient events and our present-day faith. The story of the Exodus isn't just a tale of liberation; it's a call to recognize the continuous presence of miracles in our daily lives, the importance of gratitude, and the deepening relationship we can cultivate with the Divine.Listen in as we also explore the moral dimensions of gratitude and respect, even when faced with adversity. Reflecting on a conversation with a schoolteacher from Dallas, we underscore the importance of cherishing our jobs, acknowledging the sustenance they provide, and the pitfalls of bitterness. This dialogue draws from the rich narratives of the Torah, where even Moshe refrains from harming the water and earth that once saved him. It's a poignant reminder to celebrate our heritage, share its wisdom with our families, and to find joy and meaning in our cultural and historical identities. Don't miss this journey through the time-honored traditions and lessons of Parsha Va-Era, where each word and each letter guides us toward a more grateful and fulfilled life._____________This Parsha Review Podcast (Ep 2.2) on Parshas Va'eira by Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe offers a refreshing, clear and concise review as he does for each Parsha in the Torah. • Jewish Pride Isn't a Slogan: A Wake-Up Call for Today (Parsha Pearls: Shemos) 5786
    Jan 7 2026
In this Parshas Shemos review—the opening of Sefer Shemot (Exodus)—Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe explains the shift from the family-focused stories of Bereishis to the birth of the Jewish nation in Egypt. The parsha begins with the 70 souls descending to Egypt, rapidly multiplying ("paru v'yishretzu v'yarbu v'yaatzmu b'meod meod"), becoming mighty—yet a new Pharaoh arises who "did not know Yosef" and enslaves them out of fear. The rabbi poses the central question: Why did the strong, numerous Jews passively accept enslavement? The answer lies in the death of Yosef's generation—the proud, warrior-like leaders—leaving a spiritually weakened people with superficial "cultural" Jewish identity but no deep Torah connection. This lack of authentic pride and investment in Judaism rendered them vulnerable, mirroring recurring patterns (Golden Calf, Spies) where low self-worth led to catastrophe.True Jewish pride, Rabbi Wolbe stresses, comes not from empty slogans ("I'm proud to be Jewish," flags, or national symbols) but from personal investment in Torah and mitzvot—turning Judaism from a shallow "culture" into a vibrant, lived reality. The four books from Shemos to Devarim teach exactly what authentic pride looks like: observing Hashem's commandments, binding tefillin, reciting blessings, affixing mezuzot—daily actions that infuse God-consciousness and genuine dignity. Only through such commitment do Jews gain unshakeable strength against oppression._____________This episode of the Parsha Review Podcast is dedicated in honor of Lenny & Teresa FriedmanDownload & Print the Parsha Review Notes:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ncaRyoH5iJmGGoMZs9y82Hz2ofViVouv?usp=sharingRecorded at TORCH Meyerland in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on January 6, 2026, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on January 7, 2026_____________Subscribe: Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/parsha-review-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1651930083)Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/show/22lv1kXJob5ZNLaAl6CHTQ) to stay inspired! • Courage & Conviction to NEVER Back Down! (Parsha In-Focus: Shemos) 5784
    Jan 5 2026

Have you ever stood at a crossroads, torn between the safe path and the one that demands courage to embrace who you truly are? Join us as we navigate the awe-inspiring decisions of Shifra and Pua, the heroic midwives from Parsha Shemos, whose bravery not only defied a Pharaoh but also shaped the legacy of a nation. In this heartfelt exploration, we uncover the significance of Jewish pride and identity, drawing parallels to our own lives where the choice to stand firm in our beliefs can echo through generations.

We need to proudly exhibit our Jewishness with honor, and remember the importance of wearing our identity boldly, much like the tzitzis and yarmulkes that serve as symbols of our faith. This week's Parsha, Shemos, reinforces the message, urging us to declare 'I am a Jew' with conviction and nurture our bond with Hashem. So, as we wish you an amazing Shabbos, let this episode be your invitation to a life of continual growth and a commitment to pass on a legacy of love and reverence for our traditions to the future generations.

  • 2.1 Parshas Shemos Review: Legacy of Courage
    Jan 4 2026

As we traverse the early chapters of Exodus in Parshas Shemos, we invite you to join me in uncovering the trials and triumphs that mark the genesis of Jewish bondage in Egypt. Together, we'll reflect on the bravery of midwives Shifra and Pua, whose defiance against Pharaoh's edicts shines as a beacon of courage, and on Moshe's reluctant yet destined rise to leadership. Through their stories, we'll consider the profound significance of each individual and the tribe's frequent enumeration, a testament to their value in the eyes of Hashem.

In this week's episode, we also explore the intrinsic responsibility of leadership and the imperative to employ our God-given talents for communal enrichment. The parable of a rabbi's lesson in empathy underscores the need for compassion in guiding others. We punctuate our discussion with thoughts on the hallowed grounds that tether us to our past and the Jewish people's astounding post-Holocaust renaissance—a stirring reminder of our indefatigable spirit. As Shabbos beckons, we encourage you to embrace the lessons of endurance and the untapped potential within each of us, looking back with reverence and forward with unwavering hope.

  • Unique Blessings: Why Every Child Needs Their Own Path (Parsha Pearls: Vayechi) 5786
    Jan 2 2026
In this inspiring Parshas Vayechi review, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe highlights Jacob's individualized blessings to each son and grandson—emphasizing uniqueness over uniformity—as a model for parenting and personal growth. No "cookie-cutter" approach: every child has distinct talents to nurture, rejecting worldly "equality" (equal outcomes) for Torah's equal potential.Central focus: the eternal Friday-night blessing "Yisimcha Elokim k'Ephraim v'chi'Menashe"—Ephraim and Menashe, raised in decadent Egypt yet remaining steadfastly Jewish, became exemplars of harmony, resilience, and spiritual elevation despite surroundings. Rabbi Wolbe reveals the deeper charge: to merit such children, parents must emulate Yosef—unwavering commitment, resisting temptation, seeing divine plan in adversity. The episode calls for "intentional Judaism": deliberate steps forward (Shabbos observance, kashrut, relationships) rather than stagnation or excuses. Small, consistent improvements—rejecting complacency—honor our unique potential, transforming challenges into growth. Rabbi Wolbe urges viewing life as ongoing journey, not destination, with Hashem guiding every step._____________This episode of the Parsha Review Podcast is dedicated in honor of Lenny & Teresa FriedmanDownload & Print the Parsha Review Notes:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ncaRyoH5iJmGGoMZs9y82Hz2ofViVouv?usp=sharingRecorded at TORCH Meyerland in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on January 2, 2026, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on January 2, 2026_____________Subscribe: Apple Podcasts (https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/parsha-review-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1651930083)Spotify (https://open.spotify.com/show/22lv1kXJob5ZNLaAl6CHTQ) to stay inspired!
