  • Author Interview and Review: George M. Johnson / All Boys Aren't Blue
    Jul 16 2025
Back from another unplanned hiatus… this week I bring you a review and author interview. What you are about to hear is an interview that I did with Chris Jarvis as part of our It's A Queer Thang podcast when we interviewed George M Johnson, author of All Boys Aren’t Blue, which is an amazing memoir and has the delightful distinction of being one of the most challenged and banned books in the US. This interview was recorded in August of 2023 and released in September of that year. However, I felt that as the book is still on the top of so many lists (banned and challenged lists as well as lists of queer books you should totally read), I thought it was worth a repost. If you want to hear the full Queer Thang episode, which includes an interview with PEN America about the lawsuit that authors like George M Johnson are still a part of, you can find the link below. As always, I discuss the book’s atmosphere, writing style, plot, characters, and more. Plus, a popcorn fact and our new segment “Back To The Blurb” where I revisit and then opine about the book’s promo blurb. Enjoy! • 18. Sorry, Please, Thank You (Book Review)
    May 21 2025
Warning: This week’s review is a bit different than normal. First off, there was no real script. Just KJaylia winging it into the microphone. Secondly, this week’s book is not a novel but a short story collection. A sci-fi short story collection! This week’s Spoiler Free review is for Charles Yu’s 2012 collection “Sorry, Please, Thank You” I talk about the book’s atmosphere and writing style. There isn’t as much to say about the plot and characters (obviously), but I think that I manage to give you a sense of the book. Plus, there are a few fun tangents and a NEW SEG
