    Send us a text

In this episode, we explore two men who entered the wilderness under very different circumstances—one who fought to live, and one who vanished into the shadows.

First, we follow the incredible survival story of Ralph Sawyer, a 52-year-old mountain biker from Gresham, Oregon, who disappeared in Mount Hood National Forest and was missing for six long days. Against the odds, Ralph found his way back, relying on instinct, grit, and the simple decision to follow a creek downhill. His story is a reminder that preparation and perseverance can mean the difference between life and death.

Then we shift to the ongoing manhunt for Travis Caleb Decker, a decorated military veteran accused of murdering his three young daughters before disappearing into the backcountry of Washington. With his survival training and ability to live off-grid, Decker has evaded capture for months. Authorities now believe he may be receiving help, and the case has sparked debate over law enforcement strategy, mental health, and reforms to the Amber Alert system.

Two men. Two outcomes. One truth: the wilderness doesn’t lie.

    Send us a text

In this powerful episode of the PNWMPP Podcast, host Tanner Hoskins sits down with his good friend and elite K9 handler Jensen Huffman — owner of Huffman K9 Obedience and Executive Director of CHAIS (Charon Human Advocacy and Intervention Services). With more than 20 years of experience training and deploying working dogs across North America, Jensen shares his journey from traditional obedience training to leading a trauma-informed, mission-ready nonprofit changing the face of modern search and rescue.

Together, Tanner and Jensen dig deep into the origins of CHAIS, what makes their K9 teams unique, and why emotional intelligence in the field matters just as much as tactical readiness. From hurricane deployments to high-stakes human trafficking recoveries, this conversation pulls no punches — tackling tough topics like human trafficking, disaster deployments, self-deploying, and SAR volunteer fitness.

You'll hear about the unforgettable tracks of K9s Jax and Blue, the pivotal Anthony Mancuso case, and why specialized training at TEEX could be a game-changer for CHAIS’s disaster response capabilities. This is more than a podcast episode — it's a call to action to support CHAIS and their mission. The world needs more nonprofits like CHAIS.

If you care about search and rescue, trauma-informed care, and the bond between handlers and heroic K9s — don’t miss this one.

  • Vanished in the Pines: Three cases that still haunt the PNW
    May 14 2025

    Send us a text

The Pacific Northwest is a place of mist, mystery, and myth—but beneath the towering trees and winding trails lie stories that never made it home.

In this cinematic and chilling episode, host Tanner Hoskins walks you through three of the most haunting unsolved disappearances and murders in Pacific Northwest history:

🔹 The Cowden Family Disappearance – A quiet family camping trip in 1974 ends in tragedy when an entire family vanishes from a serene Oregon campsite, only to be discovered months later in a hidden cave.

🔹 The Tube Sock Murders – Two couples. Two crimes. One chilling signature: a white tube sock tied postmortem. Was a serial predator stalking the Washington woods in the mid-80s?

🔹 The Lewis–Clark Valley Murders – A trail of abductions and killings across Idaho and Washington, all tied to a single community theater and a suspect who still walks free.

With immersive sound design, emotional storytelling, and years of investigative insight, this episode will leave you questioning just how close darkness really is — and how silence in the forest isn’t always empty.

Don’t miss this deep dive into the cases that define true crime in the Northwest. Subscribe, share, and join the search for answers.

  • Mount Rainier - Three missing outdoorsmen
    Apr 16 2025

    Send us a text

    Release Date: April 16, 2025

Mount Rainier stands as one of America’s most breathtaking — and dangerous — natural landmarks. In this chilling episode, we examine three haunting disappearances that occurred on its icy slopes.

First, we dive into the 2010 vanishing of Eric Lewis — a seasoned climber who was roped in with his team, only to vanish near the summit without a sound, a footprint, or a trace. What could cause a man to disappear under such tightly controlled conditions?

Then, we revisit the mysterious case of MIT student Zachary Weston, who disappeared in 2005 after a solo hike to Snow Lake. No gear, no tracks, no answers.

Finally, we recount the heartbreaking 2020 disappearance of Vincent Renaldo Djie, a young man from Indonesia whose solo hike toward Mildred Point triggered one of the largest search efforts in the park’s history.

These cases raise unsettling questions: Are these simply accidents in harsh terrain? Or does something else linger in the fog-shrouded wilderness of Mount Rainier?

Tune in as we explore theories, discuss strange patterns, and honor the lives of those still missing.

📞 If you have information about any of the cases mentioned, please contact the appropriate authorities listed in the episode.
