We discuss recent changes to coyote hunting regulations in Michigan, specifically Amendment 10 of 2025, which established a new coyote management season alongside the existing hunting season. Merle, Public Relations Director for MTCPA, explained how this amendment came about, following a legal challenge against the previous reduced season, with the NRC ultimately voting unanimously to restore year-round management capabilities while maintaining scientific principles. The discussion covers specific regulations, including carcass disposal requirements and the continued prohibition of non-lethal cable restraints during the management season. Merle also shares insights about the Furbearer Work Group meetings and the importance of stakeholder participation in wildlife management decisions.
