Welcome to this Inwood Art Works On Air podcast artist spotlight episode featuring visual artist, Howard Better.

Howard attended Pratt Institute and California Institute of the Arts in the late Seventies and his art-making career has mostly involved moving images, First using 16mm film, then video and digital images. His movies have been made to be projected on unusual surfaces, such as the side of a cliff or into the corner of a room. Howard spent two decades doing freelance animation, mostly working on Sesame Street and other similar shows. He began teaching video and animation

classes in the early nineties, and has taught 3D computer animation to college students, but he professes his real love is stop-motion animation. In recent years, he has been working primarily with special ed students.

Howard began working with collaged objects about 20 years ago and has ongoing installations in various locations around Uptown Manhattan. He has shown his collage work several times up in Yonkers, Soapbox Gallery in Brooklyn, Le Petit Versailles in the East Village, and at the Tufano Gallery in Cobleskill, NY. He is currently working on an ongoing series of collages called WALLPAPER which are used to cover the walls of large spaces.
