In the mountains of central Appalachia, blood runs as deep as these hollers and just as dark. Since before our kind knew these hills, hearts of unknowable hunger and madness have slumbered beneath them. These are the darkest mountains in the world. How dare we think we can break the skin of a god and dig out its heart without bringing forth blood and darkness? Old Gods of Appalachia is a horror-anthology podcast set in the shadows of an Alternate Appalachia, a place where digging too deep into the mines was just the first mistake.

Great story content. Story teller is excellent in execution. And keeping you listing. Why isn't this a movie

This series is enjoyable but mediocre. Worth a listen. It’s free. If I were going to pay for it the author would need some professional development. For a layman it’s not bad.

Enjoyable

amazing. just amazing

Cam Collins is an excellent writer but not a remotely good voice actor. It sounds like she's reading church announcements, even when characters should be showing a different emotion. Not many emotions are displayed by the characters she voices. If the voice acting is making you want to turn it off like I was feeling, I encourage you to stick with it. The storyline is worth the listen if you can get past the voice acting.

Great podcast, but...

I grew up in McCreary Co. Kentucky, I listened at my Aint Sylvia's knee... I knew the Mamaws and Papas of the hills and hollers of my home. The places that were sacred, and those that were forbidden lest you invite something home.

Steve Shell, and his amazing cast, sound design and frankly staggering amount of research and storytelling has brought me home, time and time again making living away from home, more manageable.

Thank you Old Gods Family... I'll be seeing you when I see ya... stay safe out there...

If you're from Appalachia, these dark tales feel like home. If you ain't, sit back and enjoy the hospitality with a side of horror.
