  • Sooners fall to Bama 34-24 as OU blows a 17-point lead in the CFP. Again!
    Dec 20 2025
Oklahoma took a 17-0 lead to start the game and we had visions of a national championship running through our heads. Then things snowballed in Alabama's direction and the Sooners end up losing 34-24. Carey, Eddie and George are here to talk about how it all went wrong. We also talk about this season, that was one of our most enjoyable to cover in quite a long time. And where do we fall on the future of things inside the OU program? Is John Mateer still the answer at QB? Is Ben Arbuckle? And how the hell did this special teams unit fall apart at the most inopportune time? The Sooners brushed shoulders with greatness, but they failed to climb the mountain top. How far away is this team? What pieces do they need? What changes need to be made? All of that and more in the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • Sooners find a way once again and now sit in the driver's seat for CFP spot
    Nov 30 2025
It definitely wasn't pretty on Saturday. But this is what we've learned about turnover margins. You have to work that much harder to overcome 3 interceptions. John Mateer struggled, but found enough magic to throw two long TD passes to Isaiah Sategna and Deion Burks. The defense sprinkled more magic of their own as Peyton Bowen jumped in the air and intercepted LSU in his own endzone after the Tigers had just returned a Mateer interception deep into OU territory. So are the Sooners an automatic selection into the College Football Playoff? The should be. And we have plenty of harsh words for those who are already trying to stir up controversy by saying they shouldn't be in the dance. The Sooners finish the regular season 10-2 and 6-2 in the SEC. And we have more football to play. But first, it's the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • Sooners win a rock fight with Missouri, move to 9-2
    Nov 23 2025
It's probably not a game you are going to make sure you re-watch on a loop, but OU's 17-6 win over Missouri proved their defense is one of the best in the country and one of the best of the last couple decades in Norman. We start with the defense and another elite performance from the Sooners even without R Mason Thomas. This team all but shut down Ahmad Hardy and the return of Beau Pribula wasn't gameplay. The Sooners still had all the answers for Missouri's offense. The OU offense? It was enough but not what Sooner fans are used to. The effort still came against what might be the best defense OU has faced this season. Carey, Eddie and George gather to discuss the win and the standout moments from the Sooners big win. We also talk about playoff scenarios as the upsets weren't really flowing on this Saturday. Where do the Sooners sit in a possible national title run? We break down how we see it moving forward. And George wants to remind you one more time: OU still has to beat LSU. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • Did we just witness history with OU's 23-21 win over Alabama?
    Nov 16 2025
Oklahoma's 23-21 win over Alabama brings up so many questions about the future of Oklahoma football under the direction of Brent Venables. But first, let's recognize what a great win this was for the Sooners. It's a win many people didn't think this program was capable of pulling off. But they did it and now we must re-adjust our expectations. The Sooners look like a playoff team. But the win over Alabama was because of the defense and turnovers. Carey , Eddie and George join up to talk about the monumental win over Alabama. The offense, the defense and special teams that led to the win. The Sooners went in and did something few other teams in the SEC have done. It might mean they have finally joined the ranks of elite programs in the SEC. Just so much to discuss on this edition of the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • Sooners use defensive chaos early and a John Mateer comeback to beat Vols
    Nov 2 2025
A lot of people (COUGH COUGH... Eddie) didn't believe the Sooners could come to Tennessee. A lot of people can't be blamed. This program hasn't had a big road win in the SEC in the last two years. How would this be any different? It just finally was as the Sooners beat Tennessee on their own field 33-27. The defense kept the Sooners in it until the offense showed up in the second half. R Mason Thomas' 71-yard fumble return for a TD set the tempo. Tate Sandell's 3 field goals in the second quarter was another piece of the puzzle. But even though the Sooners made some awkward decisions late, they were able to survive an onside kick in two separate instances. And John Mateer actually looked like the John Mateer OU fans thought they were getting. Carey, Eddie and George are here to wrap it up on the Eskridge Lexus Postgame Podcast. • We watched OU lose to Ole Miss and we're very confused about everything
    Oct 26 2025
The Sooners looked like crap early and then finally took the lead after picking themselves up off the mat in the third quarter. Before it all fell apart again. Penalties indicate all kinds of discipline issues with this team. So what is the biggest issues with this team? The head coach? The offensive coordinator? The quarterback? The attention to detail? The talent level? The playcalling? The gameplan? My gawd! We went through it all on this episode of the Eskridge Lexus Postgame podcast. Is this just life in the SEC when you aren't at the top? Did playing a top team like Ole Miss expose things we didn't feel like were major issues? Like skill talent on offense? And what is John Mateer as a quarterback? Is the SEC exposing him? Or is he struggling to play like himself as Dillon Gabriel first did when he arrived into the Oklahoma quarterback spotlight? Just get ready for some therapy. Carey, Eddie and George are here to hand some out, even if it's Scoop staff helping Scoop staff. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • Is OU's 26-7 win over USC the start of something big on the O-Line?
    Oct 19 2025
Oklahoma's 26-7 win over South Carolina was another big step for Brent Venables and the offense after last week's disjointed loss to Texas. The offensive line looked like a real unit for the first time all season against an SEC opponent. Tory Blaylock ran for 100 yards and this time it wasn't Temple. Could this bet the start of something big for Bill Bedenbaugh and the offensive line? It wasn't always pretty. The punting was rough in the first half. The referees weren't a treat to watch either. But the Sooners came out of the halftime locker room swinging and had this game all but over with starting the fourth quarter. The defense looked like a unit ready to reclaim their status as one of the top units in the country. • OU loss to Texas puts real problems out in the open on offense
    Oct 12 2025
Carey, Eddie and George are back inside the Cotton Bowl pressbox late into the night to hash out what they saw in Oklahoma's 23-6 loss to Texas on this edition of the Eskridge Lexus Postgame. It seems like this keeps happening the same way lately!!! The offense not being able to run the football has become a huge problem. Not to mention Jaydn Ott was supposed to be a big answer to that problem. But he lasted about as long today as some employees at SoonerScoop that are never spoken of again. Should John Mateer have played? He looked like a quarterback who hadn't practiced in three weeks. Did all the espionage tactics work against the Sooners this week? At times, the Sooners didn't look a lot different than last year's Sooners. Which is scary. Where to the Sooners go from here? What do we make out to be the biggest problems on this team right now? The boys are back in Dallas. And it sucked again. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
