  • After Young’s 5th-year option, Panthers’ focus shifts to offseason needs | NFL Wild Card takes | Canes-Wings lore | All about the U | 01.13
    Jan 13 2026

The guys open the show with the Carolina Hurricanes getting jobbed by the refs in an overtime loss to Detroit — fitting on Sergei Fedorov’s jersey retirement night, which only adds another chapter to the weird and complicated Canes–Red Wings lore.

From there, it’s over to the NFL, where we brace ourselves for the exhausting conversations that are about to dominate the offseason around Mike Tomlin and Aaron Rodgers. Plus, Houston’s defense put on a clinic, showing why they might be the best unit in the league — a sobering preview of what Drake Maye and New England are up against. Then it’s time to zero in on the Carolina Panthers and their offseason checklist. One thing is no longer up for debate: Bryce Young is the quarterback through at least 2027. So what exactly needs to get better around him?

Ovies’ dad swings through the studio to talk Miami Hurricanes, and in Hey Joe, the guys dive into a spirited debate about Eagles fans vs. Bills fans.

  • Canales & Young finally won over Carolina Panthers fans | UNC & Duke defensive woes | NFL Wild Card takes | 01.12
    Jan 12 2026

The guys open the show by admitting OG Media, LLC nearly dissolved over Giglio’s Rams ticket and Ovies cracking open a 10-year-old Super Bowl 50 beer in hopes of summoning playoff magic. Spoiler: the beer wasn’t strong enough. The Carolina Panthers’ season ends in the NFL Wild Card, and while the final defensive stand is fair to question, Dave Canales and Bryce Young deserve real credit for winning fans over after taking serious heat back in September.

From there, it’s a Lightning Round of NFL Wild Card takes, including one big-picture question: when is it OK to move on from a coach who consistently gets you to the playoffs? Then it’s over to ACC hoops, where Duke and UNC are both searching for defensive consistency, while NC State keeps handling business in games they’re supposed to win.

    Jan 9 2026

It’s another OG Mailbag as Ovies & Giglio dig into listener questions from across the sports landscape. The guys react to the Miami Hurricanes’ CFP Semifinal win over Ole Miss and what it means for Miami and the ACC on the national stage. They also discuss how the Carolina Panthers have tapped into vibes reminiscent of the 2019 Carolina Hurricanes, and why fans should embrace the moment.

Plus, questions about the future of FanDuel Sports Network, a check-in on ACC basketball, and a very important debate: should Ovies & Giglio do a show from Marbles Kids Museum? As always, the OG Sports Phone delivers.

  • Cam Newton’s return makes Panthers’ playoff vibes just right | Brind'Amour & Jarvis convos | How many ACC NCAAT teams? | CFP & NFL picks | 01.08
    Jan 8 2026

It’s a Butcher’s Market OG Live, and Ovies & Giglio make sure the vibes are right—starting with Ovies cracking open (and drinking) another Super Bowl 50 beer in honor of the Carolina Panthers. Speaking of vibes, they’re about to be sky-high in Charlotte with the expected return of Cam Newton. The Athletic’s Brendan Marks, who covered the franchise during the final days of the Newton era, joins the show to explain why this moment matters and what it means for the Panthers fan base.

From there, the guys shift to ACC basketball for a midseason check-in, including the big question: how many teams will the conference send to the NCAA Tournament? They also dive into the College Football Playoff, where the Ole Miss mess could turn out to be a blessing for Miami, plus plenty of NFL playoff picks to wrap things up.

  • NC State’s Season Feels Like '25 UNC | Duke’s Slow Starts Matter Long Term? | Jarvis Returns, Rantanen Gets Booed | NFL Vacancies | 01.07
    Jan 7 2026

The show opens with ACC basketball, where Duke and NC State each picked up wins that felt very glass half full, glass half empty. For the Blue Devils, slow starts are becoming “a thing,” but Jon Scheyer and his roster continue to problem-solve in real time. For the Wolfpack, opponents lighting it up from three remains an issue — but getting Darrion Williams going was a much-needed positive.

From there, it’s on to the Carolina Hurricanes, where fans welcomed Mikko Rantanen with boos and chants. Fun moment — but the bigger story is Seth Jarvis returning to the ice and what that means for the Canes moving forward. The guys wrap with the NFL, where there are already seven head coaching jobs open, with potentially two more depending on how the playoffs play out in Buffalo and Pittsburgh.

  • UNC guards under microscope | What “ahead of schedule” really means for the Panthers | Social Media Dump | 01.06
    Jan 6 2026

Ovies & Giglio set the table for a busy night of Triangle sports, with NC State and Duke both in action, before turning their focus to UNC basketball. While much of the attention has been on Caleb Wilson and Henri Veesaar, the spotlight shifts to the Tar Heels’ guard play following the loss to SMU. News & Observer’s Shelby Swanson joins the show to break down Hubert Davis’ options and what changes could be coming.

The guys then circle back to the Carolina Panthers with Charlotte Observer writer Mike Kaye. Is being a “year ahead of schedule” actually a good thing for the franchise? And how will Saturday’s Wild Card game shape how we view Bryce Young and Dave Canales moving forward?

  • Panthers backdoor NFC South title | Will Wade had a week | Duke & UNC prob solving | Lightning Round | 01.05
    Jan 5 2026

The show opens with the Carolina Panthers winning the NFC South in the most NFC South way possible — backing into the title after whiffing on their chance to clinch it against Tampa Bay. In the end, it doesn’t matter. After everything the franchise has endured since its last playoff appearance in 2017, a division title is a division title. Plus, the guys note some familiar vibes starting to line up with past Panthers playoff runs…including 2015.

From there, it’s on to ACC basketball at the midway point of the season. With UNC and Duke, the identities are clear and both teams are actively problem-solving their issues. NC State, on the other hand, is still a mystery — and Will Wade is doing his best to maximize the roster he assembled, which helps explain his viral New Year’s Eve outburst following the win over Wake Forest.

In the Lightning Round, Ovies & Giglio hit a busy stretch for the Carolina Hurricanes, react to the College Football Playoff, transfer portal movement, and the latest NFL head coaching openings.

  • Carolina Panthers will emerge from NFC South trash heap? | Canes injury woes pile up | ACC conference play begins | 12.30
    Dec 30 2025

Ovies & Giglio check in one last time in 2025, with plenty to get into today. They open with the Carolina Panthers, who continued their win-loss pattern by dropping their final home game against the Seattle Seahawks. While the result wasn’t a surprise, it’s fair to be disappointed that Carolina didn’t lock up the NFC South when they had the chance. Now it all comes down to Week 18 vs. Tampa Bay, with a possible backdoor to the division title if the Atlanta Falcons lend some help.

In the Lightning Round, the guys hit more injury trouble for the Carolina Hurricanes — and this one’s significant — as Pyotr Kochetkov is out for the season after electing surgery to address a lingering lower-body issue. They also check in on NC State, UNC, and Duke heading into ACC conference play, plus quick thoughts on college football bowl season.

The rest of the episode continues on the YouTube Membership channel, where Ovies & Giglio audit podcast metrics, revisit some calls of the year, and open up the OG Sports Phone for listeners to share their best moments of 2025.
