In order for communication to help you detach, you need to be firm with the fact that you’re letting them go so anything they say will not suck you back into the belief that things will work out. This communication is meant to detach you because you’re asking for clarification with where things are at. Let them know how they made you feel and tell them that you accept their feelings, but wanted to know if this is truly how they felt.
