    Tuesday Johnson-MacDonald, CMP, CMM—President of TAP Resources, an Indigenous-owned event management, site selection, and consulting firm. Tuesday is a proud member of the Wolf Clan, Mohawk Nation, from Six Nations of the Grand River, grounded in the teachings of the Great Tree of Peace. With over a decade of leadership in the events industry, Tuesday and her team have worked alongside Indigenous organizations across Canada, delivering trusted planning, consultation and site selection services at local, regional, and national levels. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Destination Toronto, where she brings valuable Indigenous insight to the tourism and hospitality sectors. In our conversation, Tuesday shared meaningful ways the events industry can respectfully include Indigenous voices. She emphasized the importance of delivering Land Acknowledgements with true intention— researching and understanding their meaning, not just reciting them. These acknowledgements are more than formality; they are a connection to place, people, and story. She also discussed the significance of authentic Indigenous ceremonies to welcome guests to the land—bringing spirit, respect, and cultural grounding to events when led appropriately by knowledge keepers.

  • Exploring Gord Downie’s Secret Path with Patrick Downie and Harriet Visitor

    Northern Echos delves into Gord Downie's solo album, Secret Path, with Patrick Downie and Harriet Visitor from the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund. The album is inspired by the story of Chanie Wenjack, a 12-year-old Anishinaabe boy who died escaping Cecilia Jeffrey Residential School. He succumbed to starvation and exposure trying to walk 600km home to his family in Ogoki Post. His story inspired Gord Downie's Secret Path project, which includes 10 poems, 10 songs, a graphic novel, and an animated film.
