NORDIC ANIMISM IS A PODCAST and PROJECT HELMED BY RUNE HJARNØ RASMUSSEN. Rune Hjarnø Rasmussen is an historian of religion, Ph.d., educated from the Universities of Uppsala and Copenhagen.Rune has lived in many countries and done fieldwork in a number of contemporary (primarily Afro-descendant) religions, but since childhood he has been strongly interested in Nordic religion.

Today Rune is working on applying contemporary developments in anthropology to rethink the way we address Nordic religion, both in terms of scholarship, and also as a reservoir of cultural knowledge for environmental activism.

An engaging thought experiment! Humans need ritual and meaningful narrative to enable healing of our personal and societal hurts. Most of us are not getting this from our immediate family traditions. Rune shows an impressively broad knowledge of world culture and societal illness, and suggests some practical approaches.

Can we find useful tales in our (authentic) Nordic past to guide us today? Can we work together to create new meaningful rituals to sustain us in our troubled times? The answer is Yes. His analysis is engaging and open-minded. No ranting, no propaganda. Inclusive, not extremist, views.

Fascinating! Practical & thought-provoking
