Your show host Joyce Graddy is a lifelong proponent of Career Education and fully embraces the belief that if you find a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. On this podcast, Joyce will interview Industry and Workforce Development leaders, Technical and Trade Educators, and representatives of other Job-related organizations. Each episode will offer listeners information, resources, and tips on finding the job that take the “Work” out of Work.

This Week:  In this episode, Show Host Joyce Graddy has a conversation with Nadara Cole, the Vice President of Workforce Training and Economic Development for Northeast MS Community College. In this first of four interviews, Nadara discusses how NEMCC Division of Workforce Training and Economic Development offers open-to-the-public training classes as well as helps industries within Northeast's 5 county area provide the necessary training their current employees need. Many times, those industry training sessions utilize the subject-matter expert already working at the industry so that the employees being trained learn exactly how that company wants specific things done. The subject-matter expert is then paid for the teaching session by NEMCC.

Additionally, Nadara Cole points out that while much of the division of Workforce Training and Economic Development's onsite industry training and open-to-the-public classes focus on training such as welding, furniture manufacturing, robotics, and production work, they also often offer classes such as Basic Computer Skills and English as a Second Language - or at least enhanced business communication language skills for the workplace.

Nadara Cole also gives information about the Northern Community College Consortium, how it came to be, how it receives and shares funding, and how the community colleges work together to support economic development in each of the 5 community college areas. The Northern Consortium of community colleges encompasses Northeast, ICC, Northwest, Coahoma, and East Mississippi Community Colleges. There is also a Central and Southern Consortium.
