New York has some of the strongest housing laws in the country. But some people still face discrimination during the home buying process. That’s why the city council said it is looking to improve transparency for co-op or condo buyers. A dirt field in a New York park has turned into a metaphorical “Field of Dreams.” At least that’s what Mayor Eric Adams called the new field in Harlem. WFUV’s Xenia Gonikberg explains the plan that was a part of the mayor’s State of the City address. New Jersey wants to eliminate all traffic deaths statewide. WFUV’s Nick Verone explains the plan. Word Up Bookshop is a local shop run and operated by more than 60 volunteers in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood. WFUV’s Xenia Gonikberg explains how this bookstore transformed from a temporary pop-up into a permanent fixture working to build community.
