  • An Interview with Aussie Jesus (AJ Miller – Divine Truth) & Dr Robert M Price PHD
    Apr 14 2021
Meet Alan John Miller (AJ) aka ‘Aussie Jesus’ from Divine Truth. Divine Truth is a new spiritual movement based in Queensland, Australia. It was started in 2007 by spiritual teacher Alan John Miller, also known as A.J., who claims to be the returned Jesus of Nazareth. Miller claims that Divine Truth is God's truth and is the "absolute truth of the universe". The teachings of the Divine Truth movement focus primarily on how a person can evolve their soul in love and develop a personal relationship with God, like Jesus did in the first century. This process includes prayer (longing for God’s Divine Love), following one’s loving desires and passions, taking personal responsibility for one’s own emotions, as well as ”Emotional Clearing" or "Emotional Processing” to clear the soul of emotional errors. A.J has produced many videos freely available on YouTube (see link below), in which he teaches the "Divine truth." Additionally, he has written many letters detailing his thoughts and beliefs, most of which he has signed as ‘Jesus’. Watch this fascinating interview as A.J aka ‘Aussie Jesus’ tells his story on MythVision.

  • Who was Jesus The Truth with Aron Ra
    Jul 29 2021
Aron Ra, "I saw an article in Inquisitor today, wherein someone read through 126 historic documents from 1st century Israel, written by people who should have known about Jesus, yet had never heard of him. This includes Josephus, whose only mention of Jesus is now known to have been a forgery or redaction inserted later by someone else. Josephus also wrote extensively about Herod the Great, but never mentioned the Slaughter of the Innocents, the story of Jesus’ childhood which mirrors the tale of Moses’ childhood. This is because they’re both just stories following popular themes. This is only part of the evidence that Jesus never existed, or at least among the reasons to suspect that Jesus never existed, which explains why I am now a mythicist. It’s not just that I don’t believe that Jesus is a god, nor the son of God, nor a prophet of God. There is no such thing as gods, just like there’s no such thing as ghosts, and magic doesn’t really work either. Russell Brand criticized “atheistic tyranny” for denying the supernatural, but there is no supernatural to deny. The whole concept of the supernatural is evidently a product of human imagination, deceptive pattern recognition, confirmation bias, and a host of other perceptual, logical, and intellectual failures to discern fact from phantasm." Who was Jesus?

Skepticism ✔️; discernment, not so much

Overall, the podcast episodes ask plenty of excellent questions. Takes nothing for granted, but after several episodes it feels too much like a coven of conspiracy theorists. Some interviewees ignore the cultural and language contexts. Like many other things, Emmanuel is a signifier more than a literal name. It means God among us. Whether there was actually a person who fulfilled that name in a way that was literally out figuratively true... hard pass on that debate. If these figures and stories are mythology, then why burn up so much time debunking historicity? What are the roots of the stories & what might they mean? If Christianity is mythology (a position I agree with), then why treat the Bible and other spiritual texts as anything other than literature?

While I have mad respect for the project of Myth Vision, the podcast stuffers from the bad effects of one of my favorite truisms: Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out. A bit of critical historiography would go a long way to keeping this necessary exploration more grounded in verifiable reality.
