Welcome to DAY 27 of the Lent Lectio Divina series
Throughout these 6 weeks we will pause each day for a few moments to Read a passage of scripture, Reflect on what God is saying to us through it, and Ask the Holy Spirit to help us as we step into the invitation this passage offers us
Before we begin this reading, let’s take a moment to notice our breath as we are filled with God’s peace and rest in the stillness. This week’s breath prayer comes from Mark 4:39 when amidst a stormy sea, buffeted by the waves and wind, Jesus speaks with authority into the chaos and commands the storm “Peace, Be Still”
On your in breath pray “Peace” and once your lungs are completely filled with air hold your breath for a few seconds before praying on the out breathe “Be Still”
“Peace” hold “Be Still”
Today’s Bible Reading comes from John 10:22-30 As we read this passage now, be listening for one word or phrase the Holy Spirit highlights to you. START Further Conflict Over Jesus’ Claims 22 Then came the Festival of Dedication[a] at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. 24 The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.” 25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all[b]; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” What is one word or phrase the Holy Spirit impressed on you in that reading? Take a moment to MEDITATE on this.
As we move into our second reading, consider how this passage relates to a current area of your life RE-READ PASSAGE 2ND TIME What specific situation in your life does this passage relate to today? Take a moment now to PRAY about this
