Elon Musk has announced he'll be scaling back his time at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) starting this May, telling Tesla investors that his commitment will "drop significantly." While he plans to continue his involvement throughout President Trump's term, he'll likely dedicate just one to two days weekly to government issues going forward. In a major development for Musk's space ambitions, voters in South Texas overwhelmingly approved a measure to incorporate the area around SpaceX's rocket testing and launch facility as a new city. The election was a landslide with 212 votes in favor and only 6 opposed. Musk celebrated the victory on Saturday night with a simple post on X: "__S T A R B A S E__." Once Cameron County certifies the results, the new city will be official.

Earlier this year in February, Musk made a surprise appearance at the 2025 Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, DC, where he discussed DOGE's work during the first month of Trump's second presidency.

As head of the Trump administration's cost-cutting initiative, Musk has overseen cuts to tens of thousands of federal jobs in the name of reducing fraud, waste, and abuse.
