Her death was initially ruled as a suicide, with the case being closed. Greenberg's parents, Sandee and Josh appear in the series as they fight to reopen the investigation.

Corll operated largely undetectably for years due not only to his unassuming nature in the community but largely because of the help he received by two young accomplices—one being Elmer Wayne Henley Jr.
