  • Perez: A Testimony of God's Grace
    Nov 30 2025

Ever feel weighed down by the family you came from—or by things in your past you wish you could take back?

This week’s Advent message looks at one of the lesser-known names in Jesus’ family tree: Perez. His story includes Judah, Tamar, dysfunction, deception, and deep regret… and yet Perez is intentionally named in the genealogy of Jesus. That’s not an accident; it’s grace.

    We’ll talk about:

    • Why the circumstances of your birth don’t lock in your eternal future

    • How God can bring beauty out of the messes we make

    • How Judah’s change of heart points us ahead to Jesus, who steps into the breach for us and says, “Let them go free—take me instead.”

If you come from a broken or dysfunctional family, or if there are things in your past that still make your stomach drop when you remember them, this message is for you. Jesus came from a messy family to save messy people—and he comes to you not as your judge, but as your Savior.

  • Thank You Jesus!
    Nov 23 2025

In this Thanksgiving message on Luke 17:11–19, we meet ten men with leprosy who stand at a distance and cry out, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” Their story becomes a mirror of our own spiritual condition and a powerful reminder of all we have in Christ.

We explore four reasons to say, “Thank You, Jesus”:

    • for your mercy that seeks us out,

    • for your might that heals and saves,

    • for the faith you create through your word,

    • and even for our maladies, which drive us back to you and open doors to witness.

Listen in and be encouraged to let your gratitude to Jesus be louder than your grumbling—not just at Thanksgiving, but every day.

  • Coming Soon! Hold on. Head out.
    Nov 17 2025

Pastor Dan's sermon calls us to “hold on” to God’s trustworthy Word and “head out” with its message. Jesus delays judgment so more people can repent. While the world keeps sinning, believers keep serving. Because Christ brings his reward, we cherish Scripture, remain faithful, and share the gospel urgently before he returns.

  • How Can I Be Certain of Life After Death?
    Nov 10 2025

Jesus provides clear assurance that we can be certain of eternal life, even when faced with skepticism like that of the Sadducees. These religious leaders challenged Jesus about resurrection, but their doubt stemmed from limiting God's power to what they could physically see. Jesus pointed to Scripture, specifically God's present-tense declaration to Moses about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, proving that the faithful continue to exist after death. Worthiness for eternal life isn't based on our performance but on being washed clean by Jesus' blood. In heaven, we'll experience perfect relationships with everyone, no more death, and be permanent residents as God's children.

  • When Lions Eat Straw
    Nov 2 2025

God promises believers a new heaven and new earth where all pain, sorrow, and death will be eliminated forever. This isn't a cloudy afterlife but a real, physical world where we'll have meaningful work, perfect relationships, and complete harmony with others. Unlike our current world filled with suffering and frustration, this new creation will offer purposeful activities without any wasted effort or conflict. Jesus has already secured this future through his sacrifice on the cross, making this promise absolutely certain for all who trust in him.

  • Partners in a Greater Catch
    Oct 20 2025

This sermon, celebrating the Wisconsin Synod's 175th anniversary, uses the story of Jesus calling Peter and the miraculous catch of fish from Luke 5 to illustrate our calling as 'fishers of people.' Pastor Habben emphasizes that Jesus sometimes asks us to do things that don't make sense, like Peter fishing in deep water during the day, but obedience to Christ's word brings unexpected blessings. Despite our sinfulness, Jesus doesn't turn away from us but instead calls us to partner with him in the great mission of sharing the Gospel.

The message challenges believers to trust Jesus even when his commands seem counterintuitive, particularly in areas like faithful stewardship and evangelism. Just as Peter experienced an overwhelming catch of fish when he obeyed Jesus' seemingly illogical fishing instructions, we too can trust that God's promises are reliable.
