  • Playful Parenting: Taming Mom Anger & Embracing Emotional Regulation | Interview With Mia Wisinski
    Jun 17 2025

Today, Natalie has the privilege of hosting Mia Wisinski. They discuss how to process emotions and connect with your children in a way that helps you both regulate your emotions while having fun and creating joyful experiences together.

Mia is the heart behind Playful Heart Parenting — a mom and stepmom whose background in theatre and songwriting as a performer and educator deeply shapes her approach to parenting. Her style is rooted in connection, creativity, and a whole lot of laughter.

Though Mia carried her playful spirit into adulthood, it took a hit when she unexpectedly became a stepmom and felt immense pressure to “get it right.” That moment kicked off an eight-year journey of reclaiming playfulness — a journey that’s since helped hundreds of thousands of parents do the same.

Today, she helps parents reconnect with their kids (and themselves) through simple, silly moments of play. Above all, Mia believes we all deserve joy and that playfulness is one of the most overlooked — and most powerful — tools in the positive parenting toolbox.

Mia's methods for working through challenging situations with your kids are both enjoyable and refreshing! You are sure to love and laugh through this episode!

  • Messy Homes, Full Hearts: Your Guide to a Joyful Summer
    May 27 2025

Summer brings big changes for Christian mamas, whether your kids are home from school or you’re switching up your homeschool routine. In this episode, Natalie shares how to navigate the summer schedule transition with grace and find peace in the chaos. With practical tips and biblical encouragement, you’ll learn how to embrace a messier home, lighten your schedule, and slow down to savor simple moments with your kids. Natalie also shares a personal story about letting her kids’ LEGOs take over the dining room and offers her Trigger Tracker to help you manage those trigger-y summer moments. Tune in to discover how to make this summer joyful and restful, leaning on God’s promise of rest.

    Key Points

    • Understand the Summer Shift: Whether your kids are home from school or you’re adjusting homeschool routines, summer can feel chaotic. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed, but you can reframe this season as a gift to slow down and connect with your kids.
    • Practical Tips for a Slower Summer:
      1. Embrace a Messier Home: Let go of the pressure for a spotless house. Try a 15-minute daily “reset” with your kids and remember that messes are signs of your blessings (Psalm 127:3).
      2. Lighten the Schedule: Avoid overpacking with activities. Choose 1-2 meaningful outings per week and leave room for spontaneity (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
      3. Build Simple Connection Moments: Prioritize presence with low-effort activities like reading or a backyard picnic. Use everyday moments to share God’s love (Deuteronomy 6:7).
      4. Protect Your Peace: Watch for triggers of anger or overwhelm. Pause to pray and use the Trigger Tracker to respond with grace (Matthew 11:28).
    • Personal Story: Natalie shares how letting her kids’ LEGOs take over the dining room one summer helped her embrace the mess and find joy in the moment.
    • Biblical Encouragement: Lean on God’s promise of rest in Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

  • Why Won't God Just Take My Destructive Anger Away?
    Apr 29 2025

Hey Mama, ever asked the Lord why he won't just take your destructive anger away?

Struggling with destructive anger, shame, guilt, or overwhelm? In this episode, we dive into the question, “Why won’t God just take away my destructive anger?” Discover how God’s gift of free will invites us to grow through our struggles, lean on His grace, and build stronger relationships with our kids. Through personal stories, scriptures, and practical encouragement, you’ll learn how to pause, process big emotions, and ask, “Lord, what are you teaching me? Where are you growing flowers from my dirt?” Plus, find out how your growth can become a gift to others, helping them navigate their own challenges.

    Key Points:

    • God doesn’t take away our struggles because He gives us free will, inviting us to choose His way and grow in faith (Galatians 5:16-17, Ephesians 5:10).
    • Managing emotions is like starting a new exercise routine—it’s hard at first, but with practice, you build strength to choose God’s path.
    • When we slip up, God’s grace covers us, and recovery helps us move forward (Romans 7:22-25, 2 Corinthians 12:7-10).
    • Our struggles produce “flowers” (growth and healing) that we can share with others, like supporting a friend or modeling grace for our kids (Ephesians 5:18-20).
    • Tools like the Trigger Tracker and SIT & Pray can help you process emotions and seek God’s will (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17).

  • What Does it Mean to Process Your Emotions?
    Apr 22 2025

Hey, Mama, you've heard you need to process emotions, but what does it mean?

In this episode, Natalie shares how to process those big emotions with God’s help, so you can find peace and joy in the chaos of motherhood. Through personal stories, biblical encouragement, and practical steps, Natalie guides you to notice, name, and work through your emotions. Plus, learn how to start today with her free Trigger Tracker!

    Key Points:

What is Processing Emotions? Processing emotions means noticing, naming, and working through feelings like anger, guilt, shame, and overwhelm with God’s guidance, rather than suppressing or exploding.

Why It Matters: Emotions are God-given, and even Jesus felt anger and sorrow. Processing them helps you break free from destructive cycles and find joy in motherhood.

    Three Practical Steps:

Notice and Name the Emotion: Pause when triggered and identify what you’re feeling (e.g., anger, shame). Use the Trigger Tracker to pinpoint what sparked it.

Bring It to God: Pray honestly or journal about your emotions, offering them to God. He can handle your mess!

Reframe and Respond: Ask God for truth, then take one small action—like apologizing, taking a break, or reaching out to a friend.

Overcoming Barriers: God’s grace covers guilt and shame (2 Corinthians 12:9). Start small to combat overwhelm, and break isolation by connecting with others.

The Goal: Less yelling, more laughter, and a lighter heart as you process emotions with God.

    Scripture References:

Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

James 1:19-20: “Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.”

Lamentations 3:22-23: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end.”

Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
