  • Mike Eagles is from Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada, and spent seventeen years as a professional hockey player with the Quebec Nordiques, Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets, and Washington Capitals.

    • 853 NHL regular season games, scoring 74 goals, 122 assists, and 196 points
    • Two selections as Rookie of the Year
    • Bronze medal in World Junior competition
    • a Memorial Cup win and a Stanley Cup final.

    During his OHL years, he was judged as the “best at face-offs, best checker, best defensive forward, best penalty killer, and best contributor to his team, on and off the ice”. Winnipeg’s Mike Smith said that landing this Eagle “was the best trade I ever made”.

    He retired in 2000 and was appointed head coach of the St. Thomas University “Tommies” a couple of years later, eventually becoming the Athletics Director. In 2003, he was selected as Canada’s university hockey coach of the year.

    Mike Eagles became a member of the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, on June 4th, 2005.
