    While Ford Hall once served as the central hub for agriculture students at Southeast Community College, a new Agriculture Technology Center in Beatrice will soon take that role, bringing classrooms, labs and hands-on training under one roof. A decade in the making, the new facility is aimed squarely at one of Nebraska’s biggest challenges: a gap in skilled workforce. SCC President Dr. Paul Illich said the $7.24 million project, now underway on the Beatrice campus, will expand capacity for agriculture training while aligning education more closely with modern industry needs and keeping more graduates in the state.

    A fast-moving relief effort for Nebraska ranchers impacted by wildfires has now surpassed the $1 million mark, highlighting widespread support from across the country. The Nebraska Cattlemen Disaster Relief Fund has raised $1,090,511 as of Tuesday morning, with nearly 2,000 donors contributing from all 50 states and two countries. The fund was launched as fires scorched more than 800,000 acres across central and western Nebraska, damaging farms and ranches. A two-hour telethon hosted by KETV helped jumpstart donations, bringing in more than $190,000.
