  • Ep. 88 | Embracing Jesus' Hardest Teaching
    Mar 14 2026

Do you find it difficult to forgive those who have hurt you? In this meditation, Fr Gavan reflects on Jesus’ teaching that we must forgive not seven times but seventy-seven times. Through the parable of the unforgiving servant, he shows how easily we forget the immense mercy God has shown us and how quickly we refuse that same mercy to others. When we remember the debt God has forgiven in our own lives, forgiveness becomes not just a duty but a path to becoming more like Him. Learning to forgive is one of the clearest ways we imitate the mercy of God.

  • Ep. 87 | Learning to Overcome Temptation
    Mar 7 2026

Why does God allow us to experience temptation? In this meditation, Fr Gavan reflects on the Gospel account of Jesus being led into the wilderness and tempted by the devil. By allowing Himself to face temptation, Christ shows us both His solidarity with our weakness and the path to overcoming it. Temptation itself is not sin, but it reveals the desires that pull at our hearts and the areas where we need God’s help. As we fast, pray, and detach ourselves from unhealthy desires, we learn to reject temptation quickly and remember that God has greater things in store for us.

  • Ep. 86 | Why Your Prayer Feels Empty
    Feb 28 2026

Why does prayer sometimes feel empty, like your words go nowhere and your heart feels untouched? In this meditation, Fr Gavan reflects on the experience of dryness in prayer and why it does not mean you are failing or that God is distant. Drawing on the wisdom of the spiritual tradition, he shows how these seasons can purify love, deepen trust, and teach us to seek God for who He is rather than for the feelings He gives. If your prayer feels flat or silent, this is an invitation to persevere, and to discover that even in emptiness, God is at work.

  • Ep. 85 | The God You Actually Serve
    Feb 21 2026

What does real conversion actually look like? In this meditation, Fr Gavan reflects on the story of the prodigal son and the call to return not just outwardly, but with the heart. As Lent invites us to prayer, fasting, and penance, he reminds us that God is not interested in cosmetic change or external gestures, but in a radical reorientation of our deepest desires. Drawing on the words of the prophet Joel and the witness of St Augustine, this reflection asks a simple but searching question: where is your heart pointed? A gentle invitation to turn back to the Father, and allow your restless heart to find its rest in Him.

  • Ep. 84 | What God Really Wants in Lent
    Feb 14 2026

Why does Lent feel so heavy? In this meditation, Fr Gavan reflects on the fear many of us feel when we approach fasting, sacrifice, and self-denial — and the deeper question behind it all: why would God want us to suffer? Drawing on the message of Our Lady of Lourdes and the call to “penance, penance, penance,” he explains how sacrifice becomes a kind of prayer made not only with words, but with the body. Through ordinary daily duties — even the small crosses we resist — we learn what it means to take up our cross and follow Christ, and how true conversion begins little by little.

  • Ep. 83 | You Are Entertaining Your Mind to Death
    Feb 7 2026

What is constant entertainment doing to your soul? In this meditation, Fr Gavan reflects on the spiritual danger of always seeking distraction and how it can quietly weaken our ability to think clearly, choose wisely, and listen to God. Drawing on the story of Herod and the deadly power of spectacle, he shows how a life filled with noise can dull the conscience and make us vulnerable to temptation. A meditation on guarding the mind, recovering silence, and learning again how to live with wisdom in a world that never stops scrolling.

  • Ep. 82 | How to Help a Hopeless World
    Jan 31 2026

What does Jesus mean when He says, “You are the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world”? In this meditation, Fr Gavan reflects on how ordinary Christians are called to bring preservation and meaning to everyday life through their example — at school, at work, at home, and among friends. He also reflects on the power of a single word of faith spoken at the right moment: a light offered to someone in darkness. A meditation on living with quiet courage, speaking with charity, and asking Jesus to make us salt and light in the world.

  • Ep. 81 | Strength That Overcomes the World
    Jan 24 2026

What does it really mean to be strong? In this meditation, Fr Gavan reflects on the virtue of fortitude and the quiet strength needed to endure the trials of ordinary life. True strength is not about impressing others or relying on enthusiasm alone, but about remaining faithful through what is difficult, boring, or disappointing. Drawing on the hidden life of Jesus and the steady example of Our Lady and Saint Joseph, this reflection invites us to grow in an inner strength that allows God to work through us. A meditation on maturity, perseverance, and asking God for the grace to become truly strong.
