Susie M. Gatewood MSN, FCN, RN is a faith-driven author,inspirational speaker, and seasoned healthcare professional with over 30 years of nursing experience spanning long-term care, acute care, medical-surgical, community health, and school health. A Master’s-prepared registered nurse,Susie currently champions the health, wellness, and safety of school-age children while also serving as a beacon of encouragement and leadership in her community. Throughout her distinguished career, Susie has received numeroushonors, including the Unsung Hero of the Year Award and the Spirit of Nursing Leadership Award, recognizing her unwavering commitment, compassion, and influence in the nursing profession. Susie is a Certified John Maxwell Team Member and an active member of several community organizations, including the NCNW Metropolitan Women’s Network, Rochester Black Nurses Association, and Parish Nurse Ministries of New York. Her leadership and empathy were highlighted in In Good Health, Rochester’s healthcare newspaper, in the featurearticle “Long-term Nurses Lead with Empathy and Passion.” She has educated and inspired over 300 nursing students, speaking on the vital roles of School Nursing and Faith Community Nursing. As a first-time author, Susie shares her powerful testimony of faith, resilience, and unconditional love—especially in honor of her beloved husband—believing deeply that God gives each of us a divine purpose. Susie finds joy in spending time with her husband William and family, attending church and Bible study, and giving back to her community. Her life and message reflect a steadfast belief in the power of prayer, personal growth, and serving others with heart and purpose.
