The pair share the same opinion in that a work culture should enrich and motivate a team. Rob also emphasises the importance of a strong work ethic, positive mindsets and team-orientated people.

Mark sits down to talk to Matt Wilkins about ‘Peak Mind’- the mental health and wellbeing organisation that he runs from Impact Working, and the importance of awareness surrounding mental health at work.

In this episode, he discusses his background growing up and about working with homelessness and addiction in Australia. During this time he spoke to people who have found themselves in a bad place and come from unexpected backgrounds in areas such as engineering. His perception of mental health altered and he began questioning how and why people ended up here.

He found that people attributed many different things to their bad mental health but one surprising thing that came up again and again was lack of community. By prioritising building communities into our everyday lives, he suggests this could have a revolutionary effect on mental health. Peak Mind aims to better equip people to be able to hold those difficult conversations with others who need space to be vulnerable. If more people know how to deal with these issues in the workplace before it gets bad, poor mental health could be dramatically reduced and can have a life-saving effect.
