In Punjabi, the word Shabaab means adulthood. In this poem written by poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi, he is expressing how someone feels if his/her love remains unfulfilled. Batalvi ji, playing with words very frankly, is saying that he wanted to keep his heart under control so that it does not fall for anyone this time. But the beautiful face of his beloved is so mesmerizing that he just wants to sit down and adore it the whole day.

Shabaab kaha jaata hai Jawaani ko. Shiv Kumar Batalvi ji ki likhi hui iss kavita mein vo apne dil ke jazbaat jaahir kar rahe hai aur bta rahe hai ki jab kisi ka pyaar adhoora reh jaata hai toh usey kaisa mehsoos hota hai. Shiv bahut hi sundar tareeke se apni kavita mein bataaya hai ki vo apne dil ko sambhaal ke rakhna chahte the, ki vo kisi se pyaar na kar baithe. Par unki mehbooba ke chehre par vo itney fidaa ho baithe ki vo bass harr vaqt usey dekhte rehna chaahte hain.

ਸ਼ਬਾਬ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਨੂੰ। ਸ਼ਿਵ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਬਟਾਲਵੀ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਇਸ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੇ ਜਜ਼ਬਾਤ ਜਾਹਿਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ ਤੇ ਦੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ ਕਿ ਜੱਦ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਪੂਰਾ ਨੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਓਹਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬੜੀ ਬੇਬਾਕੀ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਖੇਡਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਬਟਾਲਵੀ ਜੀ ਕਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਜੋ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਯਾਰੀ ਨਾ ਲਾ ਬੈਠੇ। ਪਰ ਓਹਨਾ ਦੀ ਮਹਬੂਬਾ ਦੇ ਚੇਹਰੇ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਹਨੇ ਫਿਦਾ ਹੋ ਬੈਠੇ ਕਿ ਓਹਨਾ ਦਾ ਜੀ ਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਸ ਓਹਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਵੇਖੀ ਜਾਣ।
