Machete madness on Monash Freeway

Masked men wielding machetes ran through traffic on Melbourne's Monash Freeway after a two-vehicle crash near the Belgrave Hallam exit. The incident occurred around 2:30pm, forcing hundreds of motorists to stop or flee up the exit ramp as one attacker banged a machete on vehicles in what may have been an attempted carjacking. Police, including the dog squad, searched the area but the masked offenders escaped, while the driver from the first vehicle remained to assist officers.
