See a full report below... FOXCONN BEV STATUS: The goal of bringing LEX into the Foxconn BEV pivot was to provide two types of expertise - 1.) Automobile Manufacturing Certification & Homologation - how to deal with the red tape of regulation and get a BEV to market. 2.) BEV manufacturing / engineering expertise - Foxconn assembles products and make components - it has no expertise in the design and engineering of a BEV. Lordstown Ohio is the world HQ for FOXCONN BEV manufacturing. Without LEX (Lordstown Motors) FOXCONN has little or no expertise in the factors mentioned above. It could take FOXCONN two or more years to put together the skill set LEX would provide, and perhaps even longer to get to a production BEV. With LEX FOXCONN could get to BEV Production in 18 months or less depending on the vehicle - that is a commercial BEV for sale to the public. Hard to understand the rationale for FOXCONN balking at this deal, especially when they likely have customers waiting for their CDMS BEV services and have several BEV's including a robo taxi waiting to get into a manufacturing program. We will have to see of this deal can get done - it would seem to make sense on the face of it for both parties.
