Shane is a laid back kind of guy. Possibly because of all the psychedelics. Another possibility is that in 2012, he had recently released his first comedy album and was riding high on the fame. He's also midwestern, which makes it so weird that he took so long to grow facial hair. It's like he never even dreamed of being a lumberjack despite growing up in lumberjack territory.
