Logan Webb Shines: SF Giants Beat Dodgers to Avoid Sweep

The San Francisco Giants needed a win—badly. Losers of five straight games to Los Angeles this season, the SF Giants were in danger of being swept at home and falling to a season-worst six games below .500. But Logan Webb and the Giants had other ideas, as they put it all together in a satisfying 4-1 win over their hated rivals.

The Giants have been dealing with an extremely high volume of injuries recently. On the catching side, they lost starter Patrick Bailey and backup Tom Murphy on consecutive days in Philadelphia. Blake Sabol has hit well in their absence but has struggled defensively. Jakson Reetz has looked overmatched after homering in his first plate appearance with the Giants. And so the Giants brought back Curt Casali on a major-league deal, and he immediately contributed behind and at the plate in the win.

Finally, the rest of the Giants' medical situations are updated, including the latest on Jung Hoo Lee, whose dislocated shoulder has structural damage per an MRI. Lee will get a second opinion, but the news is ominous and he could miss significant time, if not the entire season, which would be a brutal blow for the Giants. But on the bright side it would give an opportunity to a deserving young player such as Heliot Ramos or Luis Matos.
