During his exit interview, general manager Tom Fitzgerald confirmed that his plan is to retain head coach Lindy Ruff. The New Jersey Devils saw a lot of success this season and Ruff deserves a lot of credit, which is why he is a finalist for the Jack Adams Award. Despite facing scrutiny early on in the year, Ruff was able to lead the Devils to a historic season. It seems as though his players have nothing but positive things to say about him. Especially since Ruff is described as an "old-school coach" and is left in charge of such a young team.
