Lisa Rimmert (Seattle International Comedy Competition) - Somber in Seattle

Lisa Rimmert started her journey in St. Louis performing improv, but discovered a love of stand-up. She and Dan discuss how hard it has been to start over again and again, the costs of performing, and the challenges of working in small markets.

She tells Dan about bombing at the Seattle Comedy Competition, the differences in performing at competitions versus regular shows, and the feeling of being down and it being against you.

Lisa Rimmert is a standup comedian and award-winning author, a military spouse who wouldn’t hurt a fly, and a childfree champion who looks like a soccer mom. She shines on stage, turning these everyday contradictions into razor-sharp jokes delivered with heartland humility. She has performed all over the country with headliners like Bobcat Goldthwait, TJ Miller, Moshe Kasher, Zoltan Kaszas, and Steve Hofstetter. New to Georgia, she is quickly making her mark in Atlanta and throughout the South, at Laughing Skull Lounge, the Alley Stage, the Blue Ridge Comedy Festival, North Carolina Comedy Festival, and more. Lisa has also performed at clubs and in festivals throughout the country, from Washington state to Washington, D.C. Her book, Stay: My Forever Friendship with an Aging Dog, earned an award for Best First Book from the Independent Book Publishers Association, and she’s currently working on book number two.
