Welcome to DAY 30 of the Lent Lectio Divina series
Throughout these 6 weeks we will pause each day for a few moments to Read a passage of scripture, Reflect on what God is saying to us through it, and Ask the Holy Spirit to help us as we step into the invitation this passage offers us
Before we begin this reading, let’s take a moment to pause, to quiet our mind, and to reflect on God’s presence with us right now
This week’s breath prayer comes from Psalm 46:10-11 “The LORD says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God… Selah’” It’s believed the Hebrew word “Selah” was a musical instruction to pause and reflect on a truth which had just been spoken. As we breathe this prayer let us simplify it each time on the in breath and then reflect on the outbreath with “Selah”
As you breathe in Pray “Be still and know that I am God” And breathe out “Selah” As you breathe in Pray “Be still and know that I AM” And breathe out “Selah” As you breathe in Pray “Be still and know” And breathe out “Selah” As you breathe in Pray “Be still” And breathe out “Selah” As you breathe in Pray “Be” And breathe out “Selah”
Today’s Bible Reading comes from John 3:7-15
As we read this passage now, be listening for one word or phrase the Holy Spirit highlights to you. START
7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” 9 “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked. 10 “You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? 11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” What is one word or phrase the Holy Spirit impressed on you in that reading? Take a moment to MEDITATE on this.
As we move into our second reading, consider how this passage relates to a current area of your life RE-READ PASSAGE 2ND TIME What specific situation in your life does this passage relate to today? Take a moment now to PRAY about this
As we move into our final reading, consider what God is saying to you personally today from this passage.
RE-READ PASSAGE 3RD TIME
What is Christ’s personal invitation to you from this passage today? Take a moment now to CONTEMPLATE this Let us take this time now into the coming day as we pray That God will bless you and protect you; That God’s face will radiate with joy because of you; That God will be gracious to you, show you his favour towards you, and give you his peace.’
Amen
