As the duties and demands of a job become familiar, there is an evolution from the novel to the normal. For some roles, this transition is natural and even welcomed. For first responders, it can be a matter of life and death both for themselves and those they serve.

On this episode of Stories From the Road, returning guest Lieutenant Thomas recounts a call from early in his career that, at first glance, appeared routine. As the situation unfolded, what he discovered was much more complex. Had Thomas ignored his gut feeling, a soon-to-be family of eight may have all lost their lives.
