🎙️ Welcome to Let’s Talk Rescue Podcast!

This podcast is dedicated to animals — and more specifically, to the heart and grit of animal rescue. I’m your host, Dee Soflin. I’ve been involved in rescue for over 35 years — fostering, volunteering, and even doing TNR out of my own pocket. In April of 2024, I started my own nonprofit, Max Raven Animal Rescue, and I have so many stories to share from this journey.

Each episode will dive into the real side of rescue — the good, the heartbreaking, and everything in between. I’ll talk with rescuers, fosters, adopters, veterinarians, community advocates, and so many others who are making a difference every day.

The vision behind this podcast is simple: to shine a light on the realities of rescue, to educate communities on ways they can help, and to share resources and ideas that ease the overwhelming crisis of pet overpopulation, shelter overcrowding, and abandoned animals.

I’m new to the podcast world — completely self-taught — so I’ll be learning as I go. That means there’s plenty of room for each episode to grow, and I’d love for you to be patient and join me on this journey.

If it has to do with animals, the sky is the limit on our discussions. And I’d love to hear from you — what topics do you want to know more about? What stories inspire you? Together, we can raise awareness and be a stronger voice for those who don’t have one.

So let’s talk rescue. Let’s talk about hope, healing, and making a difference — one animal at a time.

In this episode, I sit down with Jaime Sanks, owner of Vacation Vibes Travel in Lincoln, Nebraska, to talk about her passion for both travel and animal rescue. A lifelong advocate for animals—especially cats—Jaime has found a unique way to weave rescue work into her travel business. She ensures that the resorts she recommends are animal-sensitive, particularly when it comes to managing cat colonies. Instead of harmful extermination practices, Jaime connects with local rescues that provide TNR (trap-neuter-return) programs to humanely manage populations.Listen in to hear how Jaime is making a difference for animals while helping people explore the world. Be sure to check the links in the comments for the organizations she works with, in case you’d like to get involved on your own travels.Together, we can advocate for animals everywhere—because whether abandoned or overpopulated, they all deserve compassion and care.
