The purpose of elder law planning is to prepare the elderly person for financial freedom and autonomy through proper financial planning and long-term care options. The major categories are estate planning, administration, tax questions. Medicaid, disability, long-term care issues. Guardianship, conservatorship and commitment matters, including fiduciary administration.  Other issues found under elder law are; wills, trusts, protection against elder abuse, neglect, and fraud, end-of-life planning, all levels of disability and medical care, retirement planning and Social Security benefits.
