    Jul 28 2025

The Te’Andra Tough Foundation is hosting its annual Amber for Awareness 5K to raise awareness for appendix cancer, honoring the legacy of Te’Andra, who passed away at 27 from the disease.

The event, organized by Tonya Adams, founder of the Te’Andra Tough Foundation, and Crystal Burris, event manager, aims to bring attention to appendix cancer, a rare condition that claimed the life of Teyandra.

“Te’Andra was amazing. She was resilient. She had a heart of gold,” said Tonya Adams, reflecting on her daughter’s life and impact. “She continues to touch lives through your foundation and through the 5K that you do for her,” added Crystal Burris, emphasizing the ongoing legacy of Te’Andra.

Te’Andra was diagnosed with stage four appendix cancer after a spot was found on her lung and liver during a routine check-up for asthma.

Despite being healthy and active, she battled the disease for three months before passing away. The Amber for Awareness 5K not only raises awareness but also celebrates Te’Andra’s life and legacy.

Participants can register on the foundation’s website and social media platforms, where updates and information are regularly posted.

The event features trophies designed with wings and hearts, symbolizing Te’Andra’s enduring spirit.

Sponsors like Indiana Memorial Funeral and Cremation have contributed to the event, helping to honor her memory.

Through the Amber for Awareness 5K, Tonya Adams and Crystal Burris continue to honor Te’Andra’s legacy, raising awareness for appendix cancer and supporting those affected by the disease.
