Naturally, the conversation shifted to the draft, including whether he keeps tabs on the NHL standings and what it would mean to potentially be selected by a Canadian market. Growing up a fan of the Edmonton Oilers, Verhoeff also shared his thoughts on the current state of the Toronto Maple Leafs, emphasizing the importance of team culture. He weighed in on the hot-button topic surrounding Radko Gudas’ hit on Auston Matthews, offering his perspective on how he would respond in a similar situation involving a teammate.
To wrap things up, Verhoeff looked ahead to where he sees himself in five years, discussed whether he believes he’s NHL-ready, and shared his thoughts on fellow prospect Matthew Schaefer.
