    Lulla-Bio-Acoustic: Autumn Sunday Crackles

Immerse yourself in the cosy rhythms of an autumn afternoon with the latest Lulla-Bio-Acoustic episode, Autumn Sunday Crackles. Begin with the sounds of a woodland walk, where twigs snap, bracken crunches underfoot, leaves rustle, and birds sing, all mingling with the distant voices of families and dog walkers.

But the journey doesn’t end there. Follow the soundscape home, where the ritual of building a fire unfolds - the crackle of kindling, the soft hiss of flames and a glass of wine is poured, adding warmth to the atmosphere. Recorded with binaural microphones, this episode layers geophony, biophony, and anthropophony with subtle ASMR details, minimal instrumentation/sound design, and only the gentlest hints of incidental speech.

Slip on your headphones, let the soundscape enfold you, and unwind as you savour the simple beauty of an autumn Sunday.

  • B-A-K TRACK : DYING ICE
    Sep 10 2024

This is the first B-A-K TRACK show on the K-A-B ART + SOUND LISTENING POD, where artist Kelly Ann Buckley takes the opportunity to share her own work with the audience. This featured piece is titled Dying Ice and is part 3 of a 5-part audio-visual commission called Echoes In The Fossils, created for Focal Point Gallery in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, UK.

Echoes in the Fossils explores the concept of lost soundscapes, from the Mesolithic heartland of Europe—now known as Doggerland—lost to the North Sea around 8,000 years ago, to imagined futures in 'After the Anthropocene' in Part 5.

Part 3: Dying Ice experiments with the sound of disappearing glaciers, transforming the frequencies of melting ice into musical notes. It captures the sounds of ice chunks falling into the water below, both naturally and through accelerated processes where the ice was set alight, struck, and manipulated to evoke the impact of climate change. The underscore track is titled Forgotten Voyages by K-A-B off her Beyond Land and Sea and Sky album available on all major streaming platforms. Aug 19 2024

In an age of short attention spans, scrolling, rushing and disposable sound, the Listening Pod aims to celebrate the value of all kinds of sound work and sound art. The works of these guests really does epitomise that goal! The music which underscores Kelly's introduction is called Beauty of Decay, off her latest album A Sonotapestry of Tales, by K-A-B on all major streaming platforms.
