Rivky sits down with artist and entrepreneur Arielle Salkin to tell her story. Arielle shares how not being able to get a job in fashion led her to discovering a love of retail, the outcome of a terrible work experience, navigating the desire not to specifically cater to the Orthodox world but still address needs of the community and the joy of someone’s first mezuzah

Arielle Salkin is a designer and the founder of The Materials Design Co. A Parsons graduate, she began her career in NYC as an embellishment designer, running her own studio and creating beadwork and embroidery for dozens of fashion brands. In 2018, she launched The Materials Design Co. to bring beautifully crafted home and accessory products to market while sharing about the processes, materials, and makers that brought them to life.
