Jeff Harrison, president and CEO of Citizens Energy Group since 2015, joins Nate Feltman on Off the Record to discuss how the organization's public charitable trust model keeps rates low through tax-exempt debt, the completed 28-mile Dig Indy Deep Tunnel that will eliminate roughly 5 billion gallons of raw sewage from Indianapolis waterways each year, the landmark deal to supply 25 million gallons of water per day to Lebanon for Eli Lilly and the LEAP District, and his 50-year planning philosophy aimed at making central Indiana drought-proof -- along with his path from Jeffersonville, where he grew up as the son of a bricklayer, to becoming the first African American to lead an Indianapolis-based utility.
