If Revelation 17 was the death of world religion, Revelation 18 is the autopsy. Regardless of whether it appears to be spiritual or moral, false religion is still self rule. Anything built on “my way” will eventually collapse. Following Jesus is the exact opposite – He must increase, I must decrease. It’s common to hear from people, when discussing their views of faith and religion, “I cannot accept the idea of a God of wrath!” In reality, the concept is biblical and helps us make sense of why the world is as messed up as it is.
