They also want to validate that perfect parenting is not only impossible, but also discouraged as a goal since life is really just a crazy roller coaster, full of twists and turns that we are all doing our best to navigate. It's time to put down the expectations and start having some fun. Be nicer to yourself. Own and learn from your mistakes but don't live there. Know that when you screw up, you can always REPAIR and REPAIRent.

Join our conversation with Allie Burton about her new book, "Code Silence: Surviving Casa by the Sea". Allie is a true badass and has an incredible story to tell. In today's episode, Allie talks about her harrowing experience of being kidnapped with her parents' permission and shipped off to a "boarding school" in Mexico, with no warning, where she experienced significant abuse and trauma.  She talks us through her amazing story of survival and resilience and gives us a glimpse into how she has had to navigate familial relationships in her adult life. She also talks about her healing journey and how she has had to reparent herself to become the remarkable woman she is today.
