Mindy Tautfest is the Founder and CEO of the International UFO Bureau, a federally recognized nonprofit dedicated to transparent and scientific investigation of UFOs and UAP. She leads the modern revival of the organization first established in 1957 by Hayden C. Hewes, preserving its legacy while driving new research into unexplained aerial phenomena. In 2023, she oversaw the recovery and digitization of the Bureau’s historic archives, including material connected to President Jimmy Carter’s UFO sighting, the Heaven’s Gate investigation, and many of the most significant cases of the modern era. Her work combines documented history with advanced analysis to better understand the intelligence behind these encounters. Before relaunching the Bureau, she built national training systems for field investigators and drew on her background as an ICU nurse and disaster relief responder to strengthen investigative standards. Her research has appeared on the History Channel’s Ancient Aliens and The Proof Is Out There, and she is a frequent conference and media speaker. She is also the author of Dying to Meet Them, exploring the link between near death experiences and UFO encounters. Based in Oklahoma City, she continues to support experiencers, educate the public, and guide the expanding mission of the International UFO Bureau.
