  • 80: Doctor Moms: Stop Losing Time on Busy Work – Start Winning at What Really Matters
    Oct 7 2025

Find the full transcript and bonus resources at inspiredmommds.com/80.

I suddenly knew what drove me, right there on the treadmill.

I busy myself with small wins, thinking they’ll move me forward, and quietly avoid the big wins, that honestly scared me a little.

What woke me up is realizing what I lose when I don’t act. The weeks slip by, opportunities are wasted, and I feel potential sliding through my fingers.

Walking in place that day, and getting nowhere physically, I did move closer to clarity – about how to reach my dreams.

For moms in medicine feeling stuck, this clicks.

Are you spinning your wheels on busy work while the high-impact tasks that could move you forward sit unchecked in your planner?

This episode explores why we avoid the tasks that matter most – and how reframing what we risk by not acting sparks real momentum.

Every year, it is as if an entire hospital ward, filled with doctors, nurses, and colleagues, vanishes without a trace, lost to suicide. Behind each of these lives is a story, a family, a friend, a community forever changed.

I’m inspired by the Lorna Breen Heroes Foundation to talk today about suicide prevention for physicians and healthcare workers. Today you’ll hear about Dr. Breen’s story to shine a light on awareness, and on hope. Because noticing the signs, connecting with someone in need, and advocating for mental health can literally save a life.

My hope is that this episode is a reminder that awareness matters, action matters, and connection matters. Together, we can turn awareness into action, and despair into hope.

Balance takes effort, plain and simple.

It’s something you build, one choice at a time. And for many women in medicine, the blueprint they were handed never included room for school drop-offs, sick days, or space to breathe.

Today, I’m talking with Dr. Sarah Slater, a pediatric nurse practitioner and founder of Balanced Kids, who has reimagined her career so she can show up fully for her patients and her family.

We discuss the real possibility of building a practice around your values and the small shifts and decisions that will make a big difference.

This is what a true work-life balance for doctor moms can look like, without burning out or giving up what you love.

If you’ve been craving more breathing room in your work and your life, this one’s for you.

    Aug 26 2025

You’re working in a system built for men

Where speed is prized over listening,

and “efficiency” means cutting patients short.

The burden of extra work, the unpaid hours, the impossible expectations—they’re not in your head. They’re backed by data.

Today, we get to the root of a pattern many women physicians feel but rarely discuss, gender bias for female physicians.

I am joined by Dr. Noemi Adame, who will share the story behind her viral article that discusses the nitty gritty data that explains the disproportionate experience between male and female physicians.

By the end of this conversation, you will feel validated and empowered. You will also be armed with real solutions to strengthen the way you practice medicine.

    Aug 19 2025

Find the full transcript and bonus resources for physician moms at inspiredmommds.com/73.

I sat down to record this today… and honestly, I didn’t want to.

Not because I don’t care, but maybe because I care too much. The truth is some days it feels like I’m pouring that care into a void.

My kid’s heading off to college soon, and there’s a sadness hanging in the air that I can’t quite shake. I’ve built something I believe in, but lately, it feels like I’m talking to no one. And the truth is, I almost didn’t hit record today because admitting these thoughts feels like admitting failure.

I keep asking myself, is it still worth it? But I am learning that maybe this is what showing up really looks like. Not when it’s easy. But when it’s real.

So, if you’re here, and listening, you’re not alone. And neither am I.

When you feel the ache of building something that matters, but not sure anyone’s listening, that’s exactly when it matters most.
