The creative process of art-making is both messy and magical, frustrating and fluid. It can bring an artist‘s insecurities up to the surface, yet asks for complete and total trust. Join professional dance artist, writer, and fiber artist, Alicia Peterson Baskel, as she interviews a new and different artist each week. You will hear from artists and writers across genres about their journey through the creative process toward their masterpieces. These conversations will encourage YOU to make your art. To value your art and to value the work of others. To push boundaries and to be willing to step into the unknown and trust yourself. To trust your creative intuition. (Photo Credit: Kate Wall)

  • The Value of Witnessing Improvised Dance
    Apr 3 2026

There are at least two outcomes that occur as a result of Improvised Dancing: vulnerability of the artist and organic composition. For me, these are two of the most sought after experiences when witnessing art: depth and surprise. In this episode, I look at two pieces of art I've recently encountered: a dance piece called CURRENTING directed by K.J. Holmes and the speculative memoir IN THE DREAM HOUSE by Carmen Maria Machado.

  • Permission to Creatives: Be Raw and Unedited
    Feb 18 2026

In this episode, Alicia not only encourages artists to create work that is unedited but she actually embodies this practice by publishing an unedited podcast episode and allowing the final product to live as is. Its a liberating experience but also helps the creation of artwork to be more sustainable, risky, and raw.

Michelle and Alicia discuss the way dance and creative practice reflects the beauty of life when we as artists and healers make ourselves available to something "bigger" than us. Michelle brings in her knowledge of human design (and a multitude of other embodied modalities) to articulate the importance of each us learning to listen to our own alignment.
